QR Codes on business cards are a great idea and there are a few different ways you can use them. First before we look at how to use QR codes on business cards lets discuss a few different types of QR codes that would work well on your business cards. The QR codes that work well on a business card are website QR codes, contact card QR codes, and GPS coordinate QR codes.
If you have a website or a special offer that you would like to promote putting a QR code on your business card to create awareness is a great idea. You could create a QR code which when scanned from your business card brings you to a website, commercial page, newsletter subscription page, or just a simple landing page with a coupon. By using the QR tracking system setup at Orange QR we will be able to measure how many people scan and use the QR code on any business card if you create the QR code through our site. By using QR codes on your business cards you can save people time entering your website address into a phone which sometimes is hard to type depending on the length of the url.
Another great QR code to use on your business card is the contact card QR code. by placing one of these types of QR codes on your business cards you will allow people to get all of your contact details with the simple scanning of your QR code on a smartphone. This is great for events where there are a lot of people and you would like to cut down on your paper footprint. By allowing people to scan you QR code and be entered into their phone it also solves the problem of people losing your contact information or business card and not being able to get back to you. A contact QR code will store information such as your name, phone number, address, email address, and web address. This information is saved in the phone book of who ever scans the QR code from your business card.
The last type of QR code you would only want to put on your card if people have a hard time finding your location is a GPS coordinate QR code. These qr codes hold a latitude and longitude coordinate which can be read by your smart phone and provide you with directions from your navigation application on your phone. Some navigation applications are paid apps and some are free depending on which one you purchase. The only time you would really want to use one of these types of QR codes on your business card is if your business is extremely hard to find. This will help people in saving time from having to type in the whole address while they are driving making it safer for your client to find your business just by scanning the QR code on your business card.
Remember it is very important to always label your QR codes so you can keep track of them and reuse them for other purposes. Before putting a QR code on any type of promotion it is also a good idea to test it out and scan it yourself to make sure the printing quality does not effect the QR code from being picked up and read off of your business card.
